The Project

ORTI DIPINTI is a contemporary garden with an authentic soul, created to put the relationship between people, nature, and food culture back at the heart of city life. It is a place to learn, experiment, and rediscover the beauty of simple gestures through organic urban gardening that fits naturally into everyday life.

It is a space that educates and unites: here, gardening becomes a shared experience, a bridge between generations, and an opportunity for research and growth. An open-air laboratory promoting a modern, sustainable vision of the city, where children, students, citizens, and enthusiasts can discover new farming practices and environmental awareness or simply meet up for an aperitif, a stroll, a workshop, or a private event.

ORTI DIPINTI promotes activities and collaborations with both individuals and institutions, supports long-term projects, and is committed to creating an inclusive, open, and respectful environment. A special place to cultivate care, knowledge, and new forms of social cooperation an authentic gathering spot for events that celebrate the joy of sharing.

Sowing community, growing the future

Orti Dipinti was born from Giacomo Salizzoni’s passion for urban gardening. Giacomo, an architect by training, brought the project to life in 2013 by transforming an old running track in the heart of Florence into a shared educational garden. With vision and determination, he created a place where nature flows into the city, a place to grow not only rare plants but also relationships, knowledge, and sustainability.

Together with a team of experts, he coordinates every phase of design, community engagement, and environmental innovation. Our common goal is to make “green subjects” a true engine for social connection and urban research, turning nature into a vibrant meeting space in the heart of Florence.
